Klaipėda University researchers are developing a web-based Shipping Monitoring platform to identify ships that were detected from satellite Synthetic Aperture Radar (SAR) data but were not present in the AIS system. The goal is to integrate satellite SAR data that is not affected by factors such as GPS signal jamming or blocking, intentional non-registration in the AIS system, and the like. Such a platform would ensure a more accurate assessment of the situation at sea in the event of a war threat, identifying suspicious ships that are hiding their location, blocking GPS signals, or engaging in other illegal activities. It would help to identify potential threats in a timely manner, ensure the protection of coastal and strategic objects, and also respond more effectively to hybrid or illegal operations in the Baltic Sea
